Paula Kramer, PhD, OT, FAOTA, was responsible for setting up ACOTE as an independent accreditation agency, one of the hallmarks of a mature profession. Kramer’s work as an accreditation evaluator, chair of ACOTE, and signature authority of the memorandum of understanding establishing an independent ACOTE together are one of the most important events in the maturation of occupational therapy. Kramer’s scholarly work focuses on the analysis of the theories and assessment procedures in occupational therapy. She is the coauthor, with Jim Hinojosa, of Frames of Reference for Pediatric Occupational Therapy (3 editions), Evaluation: Obtaining and Interpreting Data (3 editions), and Perspectives on Human Occupation (2 editions).
